Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Wrinkles & Fine Lines

Wrinkles appear as creases, folds or ridges in the skin. They occur during muscle contraction or as a result of volume loss, which is a natural part of our aging process. There are 2 types of wrinkles, dynamic and static wrinkles. Wrinkles that appear during muscle contraction only are known as dynamic wrinkles while those present regardless of our facial expression are static wrinkles. It is important to differentiate them as the treatment options differ from one another.

What causes Wrinkles/ Fine Lines?

As you age over time, your skin will begin to display signs of aging, one of which is wrinkles and fine lines. Skin will become noticeably drier and less elastic – this is due to decrease in elastin and collagen being produced. Other factors that contribute to this include excessive sun damage, dehydration or even smoking.

How can Wrinkles & Fine Lines be treated?

Botulinum Toxin-A is an injectable toxin that is used to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles and lines. It is effective in treating dynamic wrinkles It prevents muscle contraction by blocking nerve transmission to specific muscles. This reduces muscle activity which cause the formation of wrinkles and fine lines, making the affected skin layers smooth and wrinkle-free. The treatment is simple and swift, and no surgery is required.

Anti-wrinkles injections are commonly used to improve the look of frown lines (glabellar lines) between the brows, crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes, forehead lines, laughter lines, to erase ‘bunny lines’ on the side of the nose and to give a slight lift to a drooping nose

How soon will I notice results?

The number of visible wrinkles and fine lines are reduced within the 15 days, and the skin appears smoother and unlined while facial muscles that were not targeted will continue to function, ensuring facial expressions remain normal.

Are there any side effects?

Actual side effects are rare but you may experience minimal bruising or a temporary numbness. Rest assured that this is only for a short period of time and that it will subside fairly quickly. A temporary drop of the brow or eyelid is also a possibility but this only affects less than 1% of all patients.

Before the treatment:

You should avoid alcohol for at least one week prior to your treatment. Anti-inflammatory medication like aspirin or ibuprofen should be avoided two weeks before your treatment. This is to reduce bruising.

The procedure takes only a few minutes. No anesthesia is used, nor is any required. Generally, people feel minor discomfort at most.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

After the treatment:

You should not rub or massage the treated area for at least twelve hours. You should also not  lie down for three to four hours after your. This is to keep the toxin from moving to an area other than where it is supposed to be.
